Whiskeytown National Recreational Area
Whiskeytown Lake is located 8 miles west of Redding, in Northern California in the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. The lake is favored by locals because of the 30 foot visiblity of its waters, and wildlife that surround the lake's 36 miles of forested shoreline. Boating, swimming, scuba diving, kayaking and fishing are some of the popular water activities on the lake. Whiskeytown is an all season Park Whiskeytown's California Gold Rush history is also interesting - and goes back to the 1850's. There are also plenty of land-based recreational activities, including camping, hiking to the many waterfalls along the lake, mountain biking and horseback riding in this beautiful National Recreational Area. Directions & Map to Whiskeytown Printer Friendly Directions | Google Map Route Planning To Oak Bottom Marina: From Redding, travel west on Highway 299 towards Weaverville CA 12 miles. Turn left when you see the Oak Bottom Marina Sign. Go straight to the swim beach and Marina snack bar. To Brandy Creek Swim Beach: From Redding, travel west on Highway 299 towards Weaverville CA 10 miles. Turn left at the Visitor Center sign and the Kennedy Memorial. Continue 5 miles to the Brandy Creek swim beach. |
