We loved the western ambiance and the great food. Our kids had a great time in the petting zoo and taking pictures of the baby buffalo. This is a great mountain getaway!

Who said you cant bring your dog with you on vacation? Join us for our annual Pet Parade and bring along your dog in costume for the parade! Learn how to catch more fish including how to care for the fish you catch and help to protect the fish environment. We will show you how to choose the right bait, tackle, using the right knots, basic fishing equipment and the best times to fish in order to catch the most fish! Special easy lessons for kids.

FREE family fun for all! Play an environmental education scavenger hunt with us in the Coconino National Forest and learn all about the "Leave No Trace" guidelines for outdoor activities. We will be hiking our Trail for Tomorrow by the Mormon Lake Lodge cabins.

August 7, 2010  Navajo Springs Hike

An interesting 2 mile rount trip hike to Navajo Springs and the Arizona Trail. Led by National Park Service and US Forest Service Interpretive Partnership Ranger, John Westerlund. Learn about the settlement of the area, including ranching and railroad history. Medium difficulty due to very rocky trail. Hiking shoes and water recommended. FREE event!

Join Desert Botanical Gardens Herbarium Director and book author, Wendy Hodgson, on an interpretive hike thruogh the Coconino National Forest areas around Mormon Lake Lodge to learn the names of the many indigenous plants and flowers.

August 21, 2010  Elk Workshop

Learn abut the behavior and habitat of Elk. The Arizona Game and Fish Department will give a presentation about Elk and then take participants out with spotting scopes and binoculars to actually observe and discuss Elk inthe field. Join in the fun and festivities for Labor Day weekend! Roping in the arena, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, mountain bike and OHV riding. There will be a Scavenger Hunt for familes at 1:00 PM. Kids under 8 must be accompanied by an adult!

Sept. 11, 2010  Save the Osprey!

Arizona Game & Fish and Northern Arizona Audubon are partners with Mormon Lake Lodge and Forever Resorts to help clean up the area around Mormon Lake from litter that can injure nesting Osprey as well as other wildlife. There will be a FREE Bar-B-Que lunch for all volunteers of the event. Joe Yarchin, Arizona Game & Fish Department Wachable Wildlife Project Coordinator will be presenting how, where and when to view wildlife responsibly and efficiently.

Sept. 18, 2010  Exploring Nature!

Go on a FREE Nature Quest with us and learn about the birds, wildlife and trees in the forest and lake basins around Mormon Lake Lodge. Hike leader will be Larry Snead, the Mormon Lake Lodge Environmental Programs Manager. The hike will be on the lake basin's Island Trail from the Lodge to the Island where the eagles nest.

Sept 25, 2010  Annual Rendezvous!

Join members of the Arizona Trail Association on an Arizona Trail hike in the Mormon Lake area. The hike will be honoring the memory of the founder of the Arizona Trail, Dale Shewalter. There will be a special ceremony recognizing the contributions Dale made as an educator and outdoorsman in protecting and preserving our Arizona outdoor environment for future generations. The guided hike is FREE!
